First Automobile Works (FAW abbreviated; Chinese: 中国 第一 汽车) is an automobile manufacturer in China, one of the five largest automotive groups in this country with Dongfeng Motor Corporation, SAIC Motor, Chang'an Automobile Group and Chery. The company was founded in 1953 and includes brands such as Jiaxing, Xiali and Hongqi.
First Automobile Works was founded in 1953 with the assistance of Zavod Imeni Likhacheva and ends in 1956. During its first thirty years of existence, its most important models were the truck Jiefang CA-10, the first automobile mass produced in China based on the ZiL-150. The new generation of truck Jiafang, the CA141, was released in 1988. In 1991, FAW Volkswagen joined and began focusing on automobile production. Since then, they have concluded agreements with foreign brands such as Toyota and Mazda. At the same time, FAW has maintained its own brand of luxury models Hongqi since 1958.
