The Google driverless car is a Google project consisting of the development of the technology necessary to create driverless cars, which move autonomously. Currently the project leader is German Google engineer Sebastian Thrun, director of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and co-inventor of Google Street View. Thrun's team at Stanford created the robotic vehicle Stanley which won the DARPA Grand Challenge in 2005, awarded by the Department of Defense of the United States and endowed with a prize of 2 million dollars.2 The project team consisted of 15 engineers from Google, including Chris Urmson, Mike Montemerlo, and Anthony Levandowski were, who had worked on the DARPA Grand and Urban Challenges.

This car is capable of autonomous driving on city road and detecting other vehicles, road signs, pedestrians, etc.
