Italdesign Giugiaro SpA (commonly called Italdesign) is a study of automotive design and engineering company founded in Turin, Italy. The car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro founded the company with Aldo Mantovani in 1968.2 as Studi Italiani Realizzazione Prototipi. Today, the company is famous thanks to the work of its subsidiary, Giugiaro Design. Italdesign also makes automotive engineering, prototyping and testing.
Having been previously owned by Giorgetto Giugiaro and his son Fabrizio Giugiaro, Italdesign Giugiaro 1 in 2010 became the property of the Volkswagen Group, with the purchase of 90.1% stake in the compañía.3 The agreement was signed in Turin the May 25, 2010.
