Southways Sports Cars offer the Super Cat and Super Cat XL for the amateur home build in kit form. There are 2 kit options available, the Standard Kit and Comprehensive Kit. Details are listed below.

STANDARD KIT

Both Super Cat and Super Cat XL models are also available to the home builder in kit form. The Super Cat model range was designed from the outset to assist the builder by being a one donor kit. With either version, if you start with a Ford Sierra hatchback OHC ‘Pinto’ model and a ‘Standard Kit’, you can build a superb sports car capable of outstanding performance on both road and track. Although this kit is what it says is – ‘Standard’, you will still need to use parts from the donor car. These are Engine, Gearbox, Steering column, Front Uprights, Brakes, Rear Suspension Subframe, Front lower control arms, Handbrake Lever Propshaft (needs modifying) & Pedal Box. You will also require new Seats and Wheels of your choice. You may also wish to incorporate further upgrades such as powder coating the chassis, reconditioning the donor parts or reconditioning the engine etc.

The Sierra OHC ‘Pinto’ engine is used, although others such as the Ford Zetec and Duratech 16v can also be fitted. They can all be fitted with twin 45 Weber carburettors, Motor Bike carburettors or modern Throttle body fuel injection. The single downdraught unit can be used from the original Pinto engine if required. A hole is simply cut in the bonnet to allow for this to be fitted with a chrome type air filter.

COMPREHENSIVE KIT

Eliminating the requirement for a donor Sierra, this kit comes complete with everything you need to finish the car. All the parts normally removed from the Sierra are included and fully reconditioned. They even include a brand new 2.0l Zetec engine complete with new Throttle Bodies and Engine Management System within this kit.
