Handmade vehicle built in large numbers in Alto Paraiso, Brazil.
The first jerico  would have been the work of this state Lino Bogorni in 1983. The cars are assembled from components, usually Jeeps, pickup trucks and Willys, of which leverage the chassis and transmission 4 × 4; It is often the third dead shaft installation, increasing the load capacity to 2.5 t. The engine is always diesel, low power - around 15 hp - and reduced consumption, with one or two-cylinder air-cooled, usually the Agrale brand and Yanmar, coupled to the gearbox by pulleys and belts. With such mechanical maximum speed does not exceed 25 km / h and diesel expenditure is limited to a liter for every 20 km. There hood: the cabin, always open and built of wood, the floor is limited to one or two seats (often also of wood), one bumper and two fenders.

In 2007 the city estimated that there are 1,800 jericos in the city, compared to about 330 cars and trucks conventional. Each car was different, for more than ten workshops in the city building jericos, which reviews and restores all components, bought by the kilo in junkyards.

So entrenched were these vehicles in the local culture, which almost spontaneously began to emerge competitions builders. The success was immediate, leading to the institutionalization of the National Motor Racing Jericos.
