Cars designed to have the character of track machines, thereby satisfying an appetite for high-speed motoring, while providing an exceptionally high level of sensory feedback to the driver.
A man named Barnard wanted to give racing car enthusiasts and driving devotees the opportunity to own a car that was inspired by Le Mans Prototype 1 (LMP 1) racing cars. His new car's relative accessibility was important to Barnard. In addition, it had to be a good car but available at a fraction of the price of an LMP1. In 2002 Barnard officially started design and construction. Five years later the Barnard 101 drove out of its incubator. These cars are designed to be driven enthusiastically and to appeal to the senses of the performance aficionado. It is meant to be enjoyed on the racetrack. The Barnard is not endowed with electronic aids that flatter the driver. It doesn't have vacuum-assisted brakes or anti-lock assistance. It doesn't have traction control. This is all up to the driver.
What it does have is a monocoque chassis which combines exceptional strength with light weight.
