Gurgel Motors SA was a Brazilian car manufacturer, developed by João Augusto Amaral Gurgel Conrado the engineer. The brand saw the Ipanema was used in hostile land and this marked the direction that the company should follow. In this, came the Xavante XT 1972, Now plasteel chassis and suspension developed by John Gurgel and that was the first factory car tested by the military.
Gurgel patented a chassis made of plasteel (which was a union of plastic and steel, that combined high resistance to twisting and difficult deformation ), a plastic body reinforced with fiber-to-glass (PRF)
