Founded in 1922 as "Swallow Sidecar Company" by William Lyons, was renamed Jaguar Cars after World War II by the unfortunate connotations initials SS. The company currently belongs to the Indian industrial and automotive group Tata Motors. Jaguar is known for its luxury sedans and sports cars, market segments where it has been since the 1930s. The Jaguar owns the Daimler car company (not to be confused with Daimler-Benz), which he bought in 1960.
