The XK180 Concept Car was manufactured by Jaguar in 1998 and shown at the Paris Motor show. Only two were ever made each with an estimated cost of a million pounds, making this car one of the most unobtainable cars in the world. Previously the only available versions of the XK180 was the Maistro die cast scale models…..Until Now !
With a history of body and roof conversions to XJS models we have Coach built a precise visually accurate body conversion based on XJS/XK8/R as per the original which also retaining the original specifications, making it an ultimate track day car with very few mechanical modifications needed.
Our uniquely original coach built XJS/XK8/R re-bodied conversion has captured the Jaguar XK180 Precise detail including the interior and authentic instrumentation, trim, wind deflector, wheels etc, with the added extra of being the only road legal version in the world.
The car is based in a Jaguar XJS as the original body prototyping was done on a shortened XJS facelift floor pan. The XJS offer lots of different options in terms of engine size and readily available cars at a reasonable price.
The design retains as many of the original mechanical and electrical parts of the car as possible as these are all Jaguar, therefore ensuring the finished item is still a Jaguar and not lots of bits from different vehicles.
The engine and gearbox is replacing with a manual gearbox and a 4 litre AJ16 supercharged engine.
The suspension are modify due to the sheer lack of weight, rear shock absorbers and springs are change in order to obtain the correct ride height and damping.
By Christmas 2006 HE e-mailed my friend a photograph of the unobtainable car that he had sent me a model of the year before! Virtually finished and ready for the road.
