Central Research Automobile and Engine Institute "NAMI" (SSC RF FSUE "us") - a leading scientific organization of the Russian Federation in the field of automotive industry.
Scientific Engine Institute was established March 14, 1920 on the basis of scientific Automotive Laboratory (NAL) for scientific and technical department of the Supreme Economic Council, which was established October 16, 1918. From 1931 to 1946, was known as the Scientific autotractor Institute (NATI)
At the beginning of 1946 in connection with the transfer of the tractor industry to the Ministry of Agricultural Engineering NATI was divided into two parts. Car part remained in charge of Minavtoproma and was transformed into a Research Automobile and Engine Institute (NAMI). Tractor part transferred Minselhozmashu and at its base is organized union NATI (NATI).
